indie music promoter for the indie musician

red line

Welcome to my website. I am a music promoter in Ithaca, New York, with a background in journalism and a personal commitment
to helping musicians acquire the media exposure they deserve for all their hard work, talent and dedication to their craft.

To find out what I do as a music promoter, check out my music publicity page.

Folks in Ithaca and the surrounding area are blessed to live in an area with a vibrant and talented indie music scene. We are a heavy music export town, bringing to the world the likes of reggae greats John Brown's Body, roots rockers Sim Redmond Band and Donna the Buffalo, R&B singer Mbusi, folk/rock band the Horseflies, and many, many others. Every weekend you can find great bands at the Chapter House, the Haunt, the Lost Dog Lounge and my personal favorite, Castaways, which offers live music nearly every night of the week. The newly renovated State Theatre also offers an eclectic array of musical acts and other talent.

Additonally, several reknowned musicians from Africa have chosen Ithaca as their home: Samite of Uganda, Mamadou Diabete, and Yacouba Diarra, to name a few.

I am fortunate to work with local funk/Hiphop band Thousands of One; dub-rock rebels Jsan and the Analogue Sons; and spoken word/Hiphop activists Broadcast Live and Taina Asili from Albany. You can read more about these bands from my client page. As a reporter, I've also covered Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance. Now in its 18th year, Grassroots was named last summer "one of the top ten music festivals in the country" by USA Today.

In addition to working with musicians, I help organize and publicize events, fundraisers and benefits. I am available on a freelance basis to assist with event planning and publicity. Please check out my event planning page for more information, or see my resume to get a sense of my work history in music promotion, event planning and journalism.

This just in: GET READY FOR TAKEOFF

Two new musical collectives are breaking ground every week at the Lost Dog Lounge in Ithaca, 106-112 S. Cayuga St.

Every Wednesday night, check out Millionaires of Love, featuring Kevin Kinsella, former frontman from John Brown's Body,
David "Solid" Gould, also from JBB, a horn section, keys, guitars, drums and bass. They're playing classic ska and rocksteady reggae rhythms.
$4 cover; music starts 10:00 PM.

And every Sunday check out the Record New Highs, featuring members of Thousands of One, John Brown's Body, Black Castle, Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad, and Millionaires of Love. Cover $4; music starts 9:30 PM.

Gotta work the next day? Trust me, these shows are worth losing sleep over!

Thanks for visiting! From the Ithaca Festival to the newly organized Summertime Block Party, from Light in Winter
to Rock the Arts, from the Tutelo Homecoming Festival to Juneteenth, Ithacans celebrate all seasons with music for all people.

Folks from all over upstate and central New York, Pennsylvania and NYC come to Ithaca for great music.
If you're one of those people who hasn't visited in a while, what are you waiting for?
